Closing for a Cause: Turning Closings Into Community Impact

At Coastal Island Properties, we believe real estate should be about more than just buying and selling homes—it should be about building a stronger community. That’s why we created Closing for a Cause, a program that turns every closing into an opportunity to give back.

For every single sale—whether you’re buying, selling, or doing both—we donate $100 from our proceeds to a nonprofit of your choice. It’s a simple way to make a meaningful impact, and over time, those contributions add up to real change.

While we’re happy to support any nonprofit organization our clients choose, we’ve also curated a list of some of our favorite local causes that are close to our hearts:

  • Pet Helpers, Charleston Animal Society, and Dorchester Paws – for the animal lovers who want to support shelters and rescue programs in the Lowcountry.
  • MUSC Hollings Cancer Center and Sean Jenkins Children’s Hospital – for those inspired to support healthcare and life-saving research.
  • Lowcountry Food Bank – helping fight food insecurity across Charleston and surrounding counties.
  • Surfers Healing and Warrior Surf Foundation – offering healing and connection through the power of the ocean for children with autism and veterans with PTSD.
  • Green Heart Project – building community through farm-to-school education and urban gardening.
  • My Sister’s House – supporting survivors of domestic violence with resources, safety, and empowerment.

Whether you’re passionate about animals, food justice, mental health, or education, your closing can support a cause that matters to you. And if you’re not sure where to give, we’re always happy to help connect you with one of these incredible local organizations.

Giving back is a core part of who we are, and Closing for a Cause is just one of the many ways we show love to the community we’re lucky to serve. Because to us, there’s nothing more rewarding than knowing your new beginning is also someone else’s.

If you’re planning to buy or sell in Charleston, let’s talk. Your next move could help move mountains for someone else.
