Rain may have been in the forecast, but that didn’t stop the Charleston community from showing up in a big way for our 2nd Annual Shred for the School!

On August 5, we gathered at Chicora Elementary School for an afternoon of document shredding, school supply donations, and community giving — and the results exceeded our expectations.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by, donated, volunteered, and helped spread the word, we were able to:

• Collect more than 300 pounds of school supplies for Chicora Elementary
• Raise almost $800 to support the school
• Serve 140 cars
• Shred 1,640 pounds of paper

While the shredding is what brings many people through the line, supporting Chicora Elementary is really what this event is all about. Seeing hundreds of pounds of notebooks, pencils, classroom essentials, and other supplies come through — along with nearly $800 in donations — was an incredible reminder of just how generous our community can be.

We’re especially grateful to Debi and Mike Mankin with NPI and the team at Shred360 for helping us bring the event together and sticking with us through the rain. We truly couldn’t make Shred for the School happen without great partners alongside us.

And, of course, thank you to every single person who loaded up their car with old documents, grabbed a few extra school supplies, made a donation, or simply helped us share the event. Every contribution added up to something pretty special for Chicora Elementary.

After another successful year, it’s safe to say Shred for the School will be back. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year — hopefully with a little less rain! ☀️📚
