Can you believe June is already here? While it doesn’t feel possible that 2026 is almost halfway over, we’re pretty excited to welcome one of Charleston’s most meaningful months of the year.
June brings opportunities to celebrate community, history, and the people we love. From Pride Month (with one of the largest celebrations in the Southeast right here in Park Circle) and Father’s Day to Juneteenth and Carolina Day, this month is filled with events that showcase what makes Charleston such a special place to call home.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Charleston summer without plenty of reasons to get outside and enjoy the Lowcountry. Whether you’re looking for live music by the water, local markets, food and drink events, sporting competitions, or family-friendly activities, there’s something happening almost every day this month.
One of the biggest events on the calendar is the Carolina Billfish Classic, which returns for its 28th year. The tournament has become a summer tradition along the South Carolina coast and draws anglers from across the region for several days of offshore competition.
Cocktail lovers can head to Cannon Distillery for the next round of Legends of the Luau, where talented bartenders compete to create their best tropical-inspired cocktails in one of Charleston’s most entertaining drink competitions.
And with Father’s Day right around the corner, Firefly Distillery’s annual Father’s Day Bourbon Release is sure to be a popular event for dads and bourbon enthusiasts alike.
June is also an important month for reflection and celebration. Communities throughout the Charleston area will gather to recognize Juneteenth, honoring the history, resilience, and contributions of Black Americans. Check back next week for a dedicated guide to Juneteenth events throughout the Lowcountry.
Later in the month, Charleston will also commemorate Carolina Day and South Carolina’s 250th anniversary through a variety of special SC250 events. We’ll also have a complete guide to those celebrations coming soon as well.
No matter what your interests are, June offers countless opportunities to explore Charleston, support local businesses, connect with your community, and make the most of summer in the Lowcountry.
